The Ebullient Epicurean is a late 20 something woman navigating the social shoals of modern life, her ever growing faith as an Episcopalian and woman of God, and PhD candidate in New Orleans’ top Political Science graduate programs. Originally from upstate New York, her culinary and hospitality influences include her Jamaican God parents, whose love for food and biblical scripture made all of their dishes taste “heavenly”; a Trinidadian God sister, who taught her to cook with an appreciation for handmade tools and homemade spice blends; a French Canadian Great Grandmother whose formal attitude toward entertaining illustrated the serious nature of hospitality; a maternal great grandmother who migrated from Alabama to Ohio bringing with her amazing handmade quilts and lace pillowcases; a great aunt whose parties were known all over Louisville as “the event(s) of the year”; a mother with an impeccable eye for detail and kept an immaculate home; and a grandfather who expected nothing but the best from the women in his life and in turn treated them like queens.
The Ebullient Epicurean began her non academic career as an etiquette consultant founding her first consulting firm, White Gloves and Silver Spoons, in the Spring of 2004 on the campus of Fisk University. White Gloves and Silver Spoons devoted it’s time to serving churches and civic organizations in the city of Nashville (TN) through interviewing skills workshops, dressing for success workshops, and basic table etiquette workshops. In 2008, White Gloves and Silver Spoons was reinvented as Ebullient Enterprises. Ebullient Enterprises allowed the Ebullient Epicurean to expand her consultation services to include more interpersonal workshops, relationship building workshops, and even cooking and entertaining workshops. Currently, Ebullient Enterprises offers more than 10 general workshops which can be altered to meet the various needs of different religious organizations, civic organizations, and numerous demographics.
As a supplement to the workshops, Ebullient Enterprises is developing a guide for women entitled, The Trophy Wife’s Guide. This resource is based on biblical principle and will be used to help facilitate the conversation about the role of women in the 21st century and how to be better women/ladies, better wives, mothers, friends, community members, and Christians. This blog venture, will help facilitate the last stages of the book, which hopefully will result in cook/life skills book of sorts. And hopefully encourage the Ebullient Epicurean’s friends that have difficulty cooking and entertaining to do so, finding the joy in serving and preparing for others.
